Spaghetti Wrap

Imagine a swaddle for your newborn that not only helps your baby sleep longer but also makes life easier for you?

HIP HEALTHY SWADDLING WITH GROOVE CHILD

Groove Child has established itself as a trusted provider of sleep time solutions for babies with its revolutionary product, the Spaghetti Wrap providing a hip healthy swaddling choice to aide sound sleeping. All babies, and their parents can rest easy in the knowledge that Groove Child have considered all aspects of hip wellness in the design of the Spaghetti Wrap. By swaddling your child in this product your baby gets all the benefits of the Spaghetti Wrap , with additional peace of mind that developmental dysplasia of the hip will be prevented due to the freedom of hip and leg movement that this luxury swaddle allows.

OUR GROUND-BREAKING BABY WRAP KEEPS BABIES SWADDLED, COOL AND RELAXED. THE UNIQUE DESIGN OF THE SPAGHETTI WRAP DELIVERS THE FOLLOWING (AND MANY MORE) BENEFITS:

Control startle reflex – the best thing about wrapping babies arms by their side is that it takes a baby longer to wriggle free.  This is worth hours of precious extra sleep!  With arms wrapped this way, the startle reflex is minimised.  As babies get older, it helps prevent them rolling onto their stomachs. This, in turn, minimises the risk of SIDS. The tapered end design, coupled with our custom made fabric ensures our wrap fits snug around your baby, keeping it in place and away from the babies face.

Temperature control - when it’s hot, you don’t want your baby wrapped in excess fabric. The Spaghetti Wrap is an arms-by-side baby wrap that only wraps from shoulders to hip, leaving the lower part of the body free to move and breathe. As the wrap is made from bamboo, it wicks moisture away from the skin. It keeps babies cooler in the warmer months. The fabric is also powerfully insulating making this baby wrap ideal for the colder months as well. It can be wrapped around the baby in it’s sleeping bag and easily worn under blankets and quilts.

Unrestricted access to the nappy - the Spaghetti Wrap allows for nappy changes without unwrapping the baby. It is perfect for the dream feed when you really want to keep the baby asleep or just for a quick nappy change.

Unrestricted lower body movement – babies love to wriggle and stretch their legs.  Our baby wrap allows legs and hips to move freely, making it ideal as a preventative measure or, use by those with hip dysplasia. Fits with Dennis Browne Bar, Pavlik Harness and spica cast.

Fits with 3 point harness in pram, capsule and bouncer - the design of the Spaghetti Wrap means that babies can be moved from cot to pram, pram to capsule without having to unwrap or rewrap a sleeping baby.

One arm transition - The Spaghetti Wrap works perfectly for anyone looking to transition their baby from being wrapped using the one arm method. No need to purchase another product – the Spaghetti Wrap provides the versatility to allow one arm to be free to move whilst the other remains wrapped.

Value for money and time management - we understand that keeping up with the washing is not always easy, that’s why we make our baby wraps in a 2 pack, which also represents great value for money.

Simplicity - one size, one colour, one easy baby wrap to use. It has no fasteners, zippers, buttons, hooks or other extras that may break or fall off.

Sizing:   Newborn to 6 months.

For longer or babies older than 6 months:  If your baby is growing fast or is generally a long bub, it is important you position the Spaghetti Wrap correctly for maximum effect.  This is also the same for anyone who chooses to continue using the Spaghetti Wrap beyond the recommended 3 months.  As your baby grows, you will need to put the wrap lower down the torso/body leaving some of the upper arm uncovered and ensuring the baby’s hands are covered beneath the wrap.  The reason for this is swaddling is designed to control the startle reflex which aids in stopping the baby’s hands/arms from ‘jerking’ up.  Another important reason for correct positioning is as your baby becomes older and stronger he or she will wriggle more upon waking and try to get their arms free.   When their hands are covered inside the wrap the baby will wriggle their hands up towards the top of the wrap rather than trying to pull the wrap up toward or onto their neck/face area.

Transitioning to sleeping unwrapped:  Transition to unwrapped sleeping is best done by using the one-arm wrapping technique.  The Spaghetti Wrap allows you to do this easily without having to purchase another product to do so.  Simply wrap your baby the same as you would between 0-3 months but leave one arm free (out of the wrap).  Try doing this with one arm for a week or two and then change arms for another week or two.  We recommend doing this at 4 months of age.  Having one arm free not only helps to gradually teach your baby how to sleep unwrapped, whilst still providing them with the security and comfort they are used to, it also gives your baby the ability to push his or her face up or sideways in the event that they unexpectedly roll on to their tummy in the cot.

Colour:  Natural bamboo – compliments any outfit or nursery.

Fabric composition :  Our baby wraps only use the highest quality bamboo fabric, which has been custom made to our specifications. The addition of spandex provides extra stretch, giving better control of startle reflex, keeping your baby snug, yet allowing for natural movement whilst wrapped.

Spaghetti Wrap measurements:  150cm (w) x 20cm (h)

FROM THE BABY CLINIC NURSE

As most new and repeat mums will notice, babies have a “startle” movement which can often wake a baby. This is a normal involuntary reflex that lasts up to 4-5 months of age and is known as The Startle Reflex or The Moro Reflex. By wrapping a baby’s arms across his/her body with a swaddle, you are able to minimise the startle reflex and therefore the wakeful episodes of a young baby’s sleep cycle.  The Spaghetti Wrap is a lovely soft, natural fabric that when used will reassure your baby by giving the baby boundaries or edges, if you like.  Neonates and young infants calm when edges are more obvious to them i.e. around their arms and it does give them a sense of security.  Using the swaddle as part of their sleep routine will give your baby sleep signals, along with a feeling of security and familiarity of the womb.

The Spaghetti Wrap is a long wrap that is great to use from birth up until babies are rolling about on the floor confidently.  It will cater for big bubs brilliantly due to the size and stretch of the fabric.  I love the fact that you don’t need to unwrap your bub to secure pram or car seat harnesses.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any mums I chat with in the Clinics.

WHY WE DESIGNED THE SPAGHETTI WRAP

“Based on our own frustrations with sleep time products on the market, we pushed design boundaries to create the Spaghetti Wrap; a swaddle that we wished for when our own children weren’t sleeping.

When sleep for the whole family is so important, why leave it to chance. Now you can take comfort that all of your baby’s sleeping needs have been thought of and, that the Spaghetti Wrap will leave everyone a bit more rested.”

A DAD’S PERSPECTIVE - LISTEN TO WHAT TIM HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE SPAGHETTI WRAP

It is important to leave room for the hips to move.

Swaddling has been around for literally centuries, but in today’s modern age, there are a number of commercial products available on the market that make swaddling a baby simple and fuss free. Just make sure that you find a product suitable for your needs and that you follow the user guidelines. A well designed product should provide you with easy to follow instructions to enable proper use. The Spaghetti Wrap is one such product, and you can even view their video to find out how to safely wrap your child. Any product selected should allow for plenty of hip movement and not wrap too tightly around a baby’s lower body. Whether you are using a commercial product or the old fashioned cloth/blanket method, always ensure that you follow SIDS safe sleeping guidelines and ensure that the swaddled baby is laid to sleep on its back, face up.
